The American Hotel Renovation & Repositioning

Atlanta, GA

Legacy Ventures acquired the 50-year-old hotel from Blackstone in 2015 and undertook an innovative renovation and repositioning. The 315-key asset was ahead of its time when it first opened in 1962 as the first integrated hotel in Downtown Atlanta, playing a part in the Milwaukee Braves relocating to the city. Legacy Venture’s $16 million renovation embraces this history and pairs mid-century modern design with first-class service and amenities. Unique features include vintage mini fridges, 60’s car-themed headboards and an Airstream trailer serving as the poolside bar. The hotel’s 14,000 square feet of renovated meeting and banquet space accommodate groups of up to 500.

The property is home to The Cloakroom Kitchen & Bar, a unique F&B offering concepted by Legacy Ventures. The restaurant features classic craft cocktails and bar bites and images of Kennedy, Khrushchev and other period figures. Legacy activated the building’s long-vacant retail space with four new tenants including Starbucks and Circle K. Legacy Ventures manages The American Hotel and The Cloakroom Kitchen & Bar.
